Nobody Likes a Douche: Respect the Streamer

All things considered, it’s pretty easy to not be a douche these days. There are so many examples of what not to do. So why is it, that when a Streamer gets into a new group voice chat and declare that they are on stream do some insist on pushing the limits of appropriate behavior and in some cases completely crossing the line? I had my first experience with this yesterday, and here was my take away along with some unsolicited advice. You Are Only Making Yourself Look Bad This is probably the most obvious to the rest of us and the least obvious to the offenders of common decency in stream voice chats. When a Streamer enters your voice chat and lets you know that they are on stream, they are doing you a courtesy by letting you know that people can hear what you are saying. We are …

How to Not Be Annoying In Discord

I could make the statement “always use push to talk” and just end this post before I even get started, because that one thing alone will mostly prevent you from being annoying in VC on Discord. However, there are some folks that insist on using voice activation for Discord Chat. So here are a few recommendations geared to help you fine tune your Discord Etiquette and not make people angry. Having a Proper Microphone I can not stress this one enough, hence it is first on the list. If you are gaming from a laptop without a headset, you must be on push to talk. If you would like to be able to use voice activation, then it is essential that you have a decent headset with a microphone. We Need Change for Our Female Gamers!

About four years ago, I started to take notice of the topic of harassment of female Gamers becoming a popular subject. When I read and heard about it at the time, my mind was blown. It never even occurred to me as a male gamer who was raised right by his Mamma that this would even be a thing. It made me sad, but I had faith that the gaming community would get it straightened out. And I was half right. It has improved a great deal from what I can tell, however there are many people that still harass our female Gamers and streamers. Because I still have some faith in humanity, I am going to approach this subject from the angle that many Gamers and Stream Watchers don’t realize what they are doing when they do something that is considered harassment. By the way, before I start on …

Why Ditching Groups Is Very Very Bad

This one is for all my World of Warcraft Tanks and Healers. Stop ditching Mythic+ Groups! Now that I have said that, I am sure plenty of you do not ditch a group once you are in it. There is an overwhelming number of people however that will, and the bulk of them fall into the Tank or Healer category. I am also sure many of you will be thinking “well, if the group didn’t suck then I wouldn’t have to leave”. This way of thinking is bad, and I will explain why. The group finder in World of Warcraft is an amazing thing. All my fellow Vanilla players can attest to how much easier it can make things over how it was in the beginning. The problem is, when you bail on groups that you’ve joined from the group finder several bad things happen. Some obvious, and some not …
